Dear Friends & Colleagues,

On behalf of the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) and the Swiss Atherosclerosis Society we invite you to the 88th EAS Congress in Geneva, Switzerland — a peaceful lakeside haven and the gateway to the Alps. During the meeting we will explore the latest developments in research into the causes of atherosclerosis and related vascular disease, and how these may affect the clinical guidelines for diagnosis and treatment.

One of the features of EAS Congress is the high-level interdisciplinary exchange between clinicians and basic researchers. With many world-leading experts already confirmed, the EAS 2020 Geneva scientific programme will offer a bench-to-bedside overview of the latest current research in the field - including the award-winning Anitschkow Lecture, outstanding Keynote Lectures, state-of-the-art Plenary Sessions, and focused Workshops and Advance Clinical Seminars. We firmly believe that the personal meeting – presenting and discussing one’s work with others and sparking ideas from others’ work – is the key to progress in science. We encourage you to join us – to ask questions and share ideas during the Science at a Glance and Poster Sessions.

EAS supports young scientists in progressing their careers through Young Investigator Fellowships. This important initiative offers early-career scientists the opportunity to take part in the Congress, to learn through presenting their own research, attending the scientific programme, and getting to know others in the field. Information about Fellowships can be found on the Society website, and we welcome abstract submissions from young scientists.

On behalf of the Organising Committees we invite clinicians and basic researchers studying atherosclerosis and related vascular disease to present their findings to the international scientific community at EAS 2020 Geneva.

Join us in Geneva May 31 – June 3 at EAS 2020! You are sure to gain new friends, new ideas, and inspiration to take your studies of atherosclerosis and related vascular disease to new levels!

Lale Tokgözoglu (EAS President), Arnold von Eckardstein (Congress Chair & Co-Chair Scientific Programme Committee), François Mach (Congress Chair and Co-Chair Scientific Programme Committee), Ruth Frikke-Schmidt (Chair Scientific Programme Committee)

Opportunities for Young Investigators

EAS provides younger, upcoming researchers a prestigious platform from which to launch or progress their international careers. A strong contingent of senior scientists is engaged to interact with and mentor the next generation, in the popular and well attended Science at a Glance sessions. This interaction is a source of great inspiration and encouragement, and will ultimately strengthen research in the field.
Young Investigator Awards for outstanding publications – Open for nomination between the end of December 2019 and the beginning of February 2020

These annual EAS prizes for young scientists are intended to recognize distinction shown by publications that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of atherosclerosis and linked metabolic disturbances.
