EAS 2018, 86th European Atherosclerosis Society Congress

Abstract submission deadline is extended until Dec 11, 2017

Dear Friends & Colleagues,

On behalf of the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) and the Sociedade Portuguesa de Aterosclerose (Portuguese Society of Atherosclerosis, PSA) we invite you to Portugal, to the beautiful and historic city of Lisbon and the 86th EAS Congress. During the meeting we will explore the latest top research into the mechanisms, diagnosis and treatment of atherosclerosis and related vascular disease.

With many world-leading experts already confirmed in the scientific programme, EAS 2018 Lisbon is the place to come for a bench-to-bedside overview of the latest current research in the field. Be inspired by the award-winning Anitschkow Lecture, by outstanding Keynote lectures, by state-of-the-art Plenary sessions, and focussed Workshops and Advanced Clinical Seminars.

EAS Congress welcomes both clinicians and basic researchers for high-level interdisciplinary exchange. We firmly believe that the personal meeting – presenting and discussing one’s work with others, and sparking ideas from others’ work – is the key to progress in science. We encourage you to join us – to ask questions and share ideas during the Science at a Glance and Poster sessions.

EAS supports young scientists in progressing their careers through Young Investigator Fellowships. This important initiative offers early-career scientists the opportunity to take part in the Congress, to learn through presenting their own research, attending the scientific programme, and getting to know others in the field. Information about Fellowships can be found on the Society website, and we welcome abstract submissions from young scientists.

On behalf of the organising committees we invite clinicians and basic researchers studying atherosclerosis and related vascular disease to present your findings to the international scientific community at EAS 2018 Lisbon. You are sure to gain new friends, new ideas, and inspiration to take your studies of atherosclerosis and related vascular disease to new levels.

Lale Tokgözoglu (EAS President), Alberto Mello e Silva (Congress Chair), Christoph Binder (Chair, Scientific Programme Committee), Jan Borén (Co-Chair, Scientific Programme Committee).

The EAS 2018 Scientific Committee has created an innovative programme featuring influential speakers in their respective fields. EAS 2018 Lisbon welcomes a distinguished international faculty to share their pioneering perspectives on the latest developments in basic research and clinical practice in atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease.

Opportunities for Young Investigators

EAS provides younger, upcoming researchers a prestigious platform from which to launch or progress their international careers. A strong contingent of senior scientists is engaged to interact with and mentor the next generation, in the popular and well attended Science at a Glance sessions. This interaction will be a source of great inspiration and encouragement, and will ultimately strengthen research in the field.

Young Investigator Fellowships
As a measure of the Society’s commitment, EAS is offering Young Investigator Fellowships to selected abstract and oral communication presenters aged 35 or under on a competitive basis.

Travel grants to EAS Congress
These grants are awarded to selected presenters of poster or oral communications who live and work in countries where funding for travel to international meetings is difficult to obtain.

Young Investigator Awards for outstanding publications
These annual EAS prizes for young scientists are intended to recognize distinction shown by publications that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of atherosclerosis and linked metabolic disturbances.

We award two prizes of € 2000 each, and recipients are invited to make a short presentation of their work at the annual EAS Congress. The winners of the Awards for outstanding publications 2017 will be invited to present at EAS 2018 Lisbon.
