EAS FH Week 2019
Focused around FH Awareness Day on September 24, EAS promotes the importance of wider understanding of Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) in our FH Week campaign. Persons with FH are at risk for premature atherosclerosis and early cardiovascular events that are often fatal. Our aim is to highlight the extent of unmet needs in FH research and care - where urgent action could result in FH being identified early, effective treatment begun, and individuals with FH living long and healthy lives.
This year our focus is on EAS FH Studies Collaboration partnership with patient network FH Europe, speaking as one voice on FH in Europe, and the first analyses of the more than 61,000 cases in the FHSC Registry.
Since 2015, EAS and the initiative FH Studies Collaboration (FHSC) have joined with the wider FH community to focus attention on this potentially fatal disorder. Around the world during FH Week the global scientific and medical community of FHSC collaborators, as well as patient organisations, coordinate activities to raise the awareness of FH, and highlight the barriers to diagnosis and treatment.
Although EAS has a special focus on FH at this time of the year, efforts to put FH on the public health agenda go on throughout the year through the EAS FH Studies Collaboration.
