• Late Breaking Abstract Submission Deadline: 23 March, 2021

A late-breaking abstract should contain new information. It may comprise:

- either results that were not yet known, or fully available, on the regular abstract submission deadline.
- or work that has been submitted for publication.

The late-breaking abstract deadline is not an extension of the abstract submission deadline.

Notification regarding late-breaking abstract’s status (accepted or rejected) will be sent to the presenting author of the abstract by mid-April 2021.

On behalf of the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) and the Finnish Atherosclerosis Society we invite you to the 89th EAS Congress in Helsinki, Finland. Helsinki is a great place for congresses, with a beautiful location on the Baltic seacoast, many parks in the city centre, untouched nature conveniently at reach, and excellent infrastructure. Of importance, Helsinki is easy to reach from all over the world, e.g. being an established key node of air traffic between Europe and Asia.

During the meeting we will explore the latest developments in research into the causes of atherosclerosis and related vascular disease, and how these may affect the clinical guidelines for diagnosis and treatment. One of the features of EAS Congress is the high-level interdisciplinary exchange between clinicians and basic researchers. With many world-leading experts already confirmed, the EAS 2021 Helsinki scientific programme will offer a bench-to-bedside overview of the latest current research in the field - including the award-winning Anitschkow Lecture, outstanding Keynote Lectures, state-of-the-art Plenary Sessions, and focused Workshops and Advance Clinical Seminars. We firmly believe that the personal meeting – presenting and discussing one’s work with others and sparking ideas from others’ work – is the key to progress in science. We encourage you to join us – to ask questions and share ideas during the Science at a Glance and Poster Sessions.

EAS supports young scientists in progressing their careers through Young Investigator Fellowships. This important initiative offers early-career scientists the opportunity to take part in the Congress, to learn through presenting their own research, attending the scientific programme, and getting to know others in the field. Information about Fellowships can be found on the Society website, and we welcome abstract submissions from young scientists.

The city does its utmost to make travelers and congress guests feel safe and comfortable. Safety is at the time of the Covid-19 pandemic even more important. The Government of Finland and Helsinki city authorities are acting with great efficacy to prevent the viral transmission and the so-called second wave. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment together with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health provide on-line up-to-date information and instructions for the travel industry as well as travelers. Most importantly, the spaces and the necessary measures at the conference venue, Messukeskus Helsinki, have been carefully designed to guarantee the delegates’ safety and health.

We are extremely happy to invite you to attend the EAS 2021 Conference in Helsinki, the Pearl of the Baltic Sea, on May 30-June 2, 2021.
