38th Scientific Meeting of the European Lipoprotein Club
General Information
The 38th Scientific meeting of ELC will be held at the Evangelische Akademie in Tutzing, Germany,
from September 07-10, 2015.
Details about how to get there are given HERE.
Taking Part - Abstract Submission
Anyone interested and involved in research in the lipoprotein field is invited to submit an abstract for the meeting. Participants are selected on the relevance and scientific merit of their abstracts, and approximately 30 of those attending the meeting are chosen to give an oral presentation. Because of the size of the lecture hall, and in order to maintain an atmosphere conducive to active discussion, participants are limited to 110. Persons wishing to take part in the meeting should submit an abstract on one of the topics below.
Ectopic lipid accumulation and lipotoxicity
Drug targets and treatment of dyslipidaemia
Genetics of dyslipidaemia
Lipids, inflammation and vascular biology
Cellular lipid metabolism
Varia
The organising committee reviews all the abstracts, and authors of the highest quality abstracts will be invited to take part in the
meeting - ca. 30 to give oral presentations.
The deadline for abstract submission is May 01, 2015.
Before you submit your abstract - please read some important information HERE.
Then follow the step-by-step instructions HERE.
Scientific Programme
Three to five topics, selected by the organizing committee, will be discussed at the meeting, in five working sessions spread over four days, starting with a Keynote Lecture by an invited speaker on Monday evening. The Scientific Programme already includes the following confirmed speakers.
Stephen G. Young, (Los Angeles CA, USA), Keynote Lecture: New wrinkles in LPL biology
Rudi Zechner, (Graz, Austria), presentation title to follow
Alberico L. Catapano, (Milano, Italy), New drug targets in dyslipidaemia
Heribert Schunkert, (Munich, Germany), Lessons from GWAS and deep sequencing in dyslipidaemia and ischemic heart disease
Laurent Ivan-Chavert, (Paris, France), Enhanced myeloid cell glucose utilization in atherosclerosis
Tobias Walther, (Boston MASS, USA), presentation title to follow
Meeting Presentations and Awards
One of the exciting features of this meeting is that we have a good mix of presentations by established investigators, postdocs and graduate students. Although the submitted abstracts are all ranked according to their scientific merit, it has become one of the traditions of the ELC meeting that many graduate students give presentations. Moreover, all graduate students automatically participate in the competition for the oral Joachim Ziegenhorn Young Investigator Award, or the Joachim Ziegenhorn Poster Award. Both prizes include a diploma and a financial reward.
Registration Fees
There are two levels of registration fee for the meeting:
€ 500 for participants >35 years of age,
€ 250 for participants ≤35 years of age.
These fees include
participation in the scientific sessions of the meeting
accommodation for 3 nights
all meals for the duration of the meeting
participation in the social event on the Wednesday evening
Please note that payment will only be required if your abstract and application is accepted by the committee.
Notification of acceptance will be sent out to applicants in late June 2015. At that time the payment system (PayPal) will be activated on the website for payment of the fees.
